K-pouch Surgery

Tue, August 28, 2018 5:36 PM

Hi All,

I just passed the 2 year anniversary with my K-pouch.  I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when was 20 years old (now 31).  After battling multiple fistula sugeries, abscess drainages, 2 ileostomies (one for 1.5 years and the other for 1 year), I finally had the K-pouch surgery.  This honestly saved my life!

I'm wondering if there are any long-time K-pouch (or continent ileostomy) patients in this forum that can possibly share some tips on emptying the pouch? I pretty much have it down to a science, but I feel like there has to be a better way to do it ! Perhaps a way that is less time consuming and with less of a "mess" ?

I appreciate any advice :)

Thank so much,
Elle
