I have a really long/complicated history- diagnosed w/UC at 16yo, complete colectomy w/ileostomy at 19. two surgeries for bowel obstructions caused by strictures. I've also had a complete cholecystectomy, and have had pancreatitis in the past.
In May I was hospitalized with severe epigastric pain, was diagnosed with gastritis from an endoscopy, but nothing else. Since then, I've had at least 3 encounters with obstructions where my permanent ileostomy was not functioning. It relieved itself after 24 hours, but it was excruciatingly painful. I was nauseous, but didn't vomit which is why I didn't go to the ER.
My GI recommended that I see my colorectal surgeon, because he's not sure what is causing such sevee pain.
I saw my surgeon on Tuesday, and he is sending me for an MR-Enterography to see if I have a stricture. If so, I'll need another operation to fix this. My question is, what if they don't find a stricture? At this point, I don't know what else to do and I am relying on medical marijuana to function without pain.
Any ideas?
