Crohns and Thrombosis

Thu, September 18, 2008 11:05 PM

My brother underwent a resection of about 4 inches of small intestine stricture and still few more are left untouched because they are not so severe. He had two attacks of brachial artery thrombosis in his left hand in a gap of four years. First attack was way before 2004 and the strictures in intestine were diagnosed then. He had some alternative medicines for few months and left it unattended for remaining part during which time he was having a normal life despite of very bad living style, working atmosphere of stress, long drives, and late working hours. He had his surgery for crohns in may 2008 and since then he is under medication of high dose of steroid, mesacol, asithioprime and vitamin tablets. In September 2008, he had his second attack of thrombosis in the same area of his left hand. May i know whether thrombosis is connected to crohns or is that attack a local area problem of the artery. Appreciate your advice. Now he is on clopidogral plus aspirin apart from the drugs for crohns.
