I had resectioning done when I was 26 (I'm 53 now) and was in remission up until about a yr ago. I had 1 foot of large colon and 6 in of small colon removed right at the cecum. I was not given a choice to not have surgery due to the extent of inflammation and damage, it had to be removed. It gave me right at 28yrs of remission! Now it has come back in three different areas, unfortunately.

Hi. No I've never had a resection. I did have a temporary (ended up over a year) ileostomy for fistula surgery.

Have you had resectioning of your terminal ileum, OldCrohn? I'm looking at resection surgery for mine and I'm interested in hearing others' experiences.

Sorry, just noticed the cm vs mm measurement. Are you referring to the length of the narrow section or the diameter?

Hi. Yes that does seem narrow. My doctor seems quite concerned with my narrowing to 5mm and has performed balloon dilations up to 10-12mm during colonoscopies over the last three years.
