Hi
I've been diagnosed with Crohn's for the past 11 years. Long story short, I've been through a gamut of drugs with no relief and am considering a small bowel resection. Can anyone give me an idea of the costs? We currently have insurance, but my husband's company is moving to an hsa next year, and I'm a little terrified that if I wait until next year to do this, I'll be stuck with a lot of the costs (I admit I don't know that much about hsa's). Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I was able to have surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Their financial department is good and they do get lots of contributions. I would recommend looking into that.

I'm going to agree with the other person, it depends on your insurance and how much they will cover. I work for an orthopedics office and call on ins every day for surgeries. What you will want to find out is how much your insurance will pay after deductible. Usually insurances will pay anywhere from 80-100% after your deductible and thats if your doctor is in-network, if they are out of network you're looking to pay more. I had surgery last December and thankfully my ins covered 100% because after the surgery and the week in the hospital I was looking at 60,000! Good luck!

The cost to you would really depend on the plan you have. Maybe someone in your HR Department could sit down and talk with you about your insurance plan if you have questions.
(FYI: I have a high deductible HSA plan and all that I spend for my entire family's medical needs every year is $2000, so don't be too worried about it being that bad for you!)
Good luck.
