my 16 year old daughter after surgery

Wed, December 10, 2008 1:00 AM

My daughter had a complete colectomy when she was 14, she had her ostomy reversed 3 months after surgery and has a j pouch. She has been more sick since the surgery than she was before. She did remicade, methotrexate, humira, mercaptipurine and a whole list of other drugs, none have worked and she continues to get worse, currently she is on tpn due to weight loss. The doctor says he is considering going back to the ostomy, can anyone give me any advice? She has been suffering for so long, I would do anything to help her.

As I posted to someone else look into www.j-pouch.org. It is a great website with lots of information. Before your daughter goes back to an ileostomy she should look into some of these other stories. There are a lot of us who have had problems that have been helped in one way or another. Great people, with great thoughts, and lots of highly recommended doctors. Darren

I just want to say as a mom to a mom, that my heart reaches out to you.

Your daughter has been so unwell.  It must just be unbearable for you.

I know kind words and thoughts still won't fix the problems, but for what it is worth, I sympathize and empathize with you and send a prayer for healing and comfort.
