Illeocecal valve removal

Mon, January 19, 2009 4:36 PM

Last year I had a bowel resection that included the removal of the illeocecal valve. Since then I have experienced nausea and light headedness. After exhausting tons of test on my head and blood, I recently learned that these symptoms can be attributed to the valve being gone. Anyone else have this same type of surgery and experiencing the same symptoms? If so, any advice on how to get these symptoms under control. Life is getting really hard to handle when my stomach is constantly upset. Your help is greatly appreciated!

I was diagnosed with CD In October of 2007 and had my resection done in January of 2008.  I also had the valve removed.  I sometimes feel those symptoms but my specialist explained that with the valve being gone your food passes through your digestive system much faster than normal.  Are you on meds or were you taken off  everything after surgery?  If you still take something that could also be making you lightheaded.  My doctor suggested some light snack mid morning when I feel that way because I could simply be hungry if my digestive contents had already been absorbed and gone.
