Hi, I am new to this site and had a question. I am 25 and have had UC for about 3 years now. After a 3 week hospital stay last winter (winter of 2007), I have been recieving Remmicade infusions for all of 2008. I was flare up free all year, but I am currently going through a flare up that started about 3 weeks ago (Jan-Feb)..even on Remmicade. I was curious if anyone else seems to get "Seasonal flares"? Im curious to everyone elses story.

My son is presently taking Remicaid infusions. Tomorrow he will have 3rd infusion and he has recently started having flareups, again. So tomorrow will be filled with infusions and tests and stool samples but he isnt hospitalized or sick from it so I count it a plus. Prayfully this is a bump in the road only. Hang in there and so will we.
Proud Mom,
Kim

Hey Bob. I do seem to experience seasonal flares. I was diagnosed with UC (pancolitis) in 2007 and tend to have my bad flares in the Fall and Winter, with remissions in the Spring and Summer. I'm currently weaning of prednisone (doctor wanted to put me on Imuran) but I wanted to hold off and see if I could go into another remission. So far, I seem to be doing pretty good and it's been great feeling like my old self again and not having my life revolve around the bathroom. I know one of the most frustrating parts of having these IBD diseases is that you never know when another flare will strike and when a certain medication will stop working. Hope you'll be able to feel better soon

I've stared Remicade about one year ago. I haven't had a flare up since. Maybe it has something to do with what your eating. I would talk to your doctor, they'd be able to tell you what to do.
