J-Pouch SurgeryHi all! Im new here and enjoying reading everyones posts. I just wanted to let you know that I just finished the J-pouch surgeries and I feel great!! I completely have my life back.
I am 36 yrs. old and have been married for 15 years. We have 2 beautiful children (see picture )! I was stricken with UC in the fall of 2007 and was bedridden for 4 months. I had a really rotten doctor who misdiagnosed me and missed a c. diff infection. I was in a wheel chair for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I didnt know anything that was going on...my daughter went on a trip with her class to the capital and I had no idea. I was whacked out on pain pills and disease. I went to a brilliant doctor at the U of *** and within 3 months I was starting the j-pouch surgery.
I just wanted you to know that I can eat anything (after living on rice cakes for 4 months+). And I can do anything! There is life after UC. If you want to find out more about j-pouchers visit a wonderful website jpouch.org. You will find me there under the same name.
I wish you all the best. I always keep all IBD patients in my thoughts and prayers.
Take Care
Susan

Hi, I haven't been on this website for a while and I just read your post. I had my ileostomy on March 4 and go back to have the stoma closed and Jpouch connected in June. I suffered for 3 years before deciding to do this surgery. Your story (was much like mine) but worse, so today as I am feeling sorry for myself (again), I realize I can and will get through this. I do feel better than and did before surgery its the post-surgery problems that are making me feel bad. Thank you for sharing, the end is in sight and I only have 7 weeks left before the appendige on my side is gone.

Hello, this is the first time I read a favorable comment about a J pouch surgery, because everywhere I read, they commented about the terrible post surgery symptoms, like diarreha, bleeding, anus discomfort and pain, etc. At this point I need to undergo a reconstructive proctolectomy and its possible that I get a J pouch, but I am so scared and afraid, I need answers to be calm.
