Why Gas after Ileocecectomy?

Sun, March 29, 2009 12:34 PM

I had an ileocecectomy six weeks ago with 12 inches removed.  I feel great.  I have a lot of gas and I wonder why?  It is more of a nuisance than anything as I have no pain.

I am on maintenance drugs of Imuran/Remicade and B-12 shots.

I had the same surgery May 08 and the gas got better over time but I am still gasier than before the surgery. Sometimes there is still no stopping it and I can't get to a more private location. To make matters worse, it seems like the odor of "everything" is worse than it ever was before surgery. It can be rather embarrassing. I've read some people have tried priobiotics to help with the odor issue but I haven't tried.
