UC Surgery

Sat, April 04, 2009 12:00 AM

I'm 21 and have just gone through my third surgery for UC.  There was supposed to only be two but the second surgery was botched so it turned into three which will eventually turn into four.  I am having a terrible time coping with it, the incision is not closed up because it got infected and I spent three weeks in the hospital.  Eventually I have to go back but I'm doing everything to avoid it.  I'm on antibiotics but they make me nauseous so I can't eat.  The biggest reminder is that open wound, every time I look at it or think about it I am reminded that I'm sick and can't do so many things that so many other people are doing, especially people my age.
Does anyone have any advice for making it through the toughest haul of your surgery?  I am not quite sure how to get through this.

UC SurgeryI am almost 2 months post op from my 2nd surgery.  I had an iliostomy for a while with many infections.  I was hospitalized for 14 days after my 2nd surgery for and infection in my insicion that broke open.  It was not fun so I know what you mean.  I have a 2 year old and I couldnt lift her.  It was really hard....I didnt have to look vary far at *** to see that I didnt have it that bad.....Yes it was NOT fun and very painfull but it could always be worse and that concept helped me get thru it all.  Your insicion will close up it just needs time and rest.
