Ostomy

Fri, May 01, 2009 12:00 AM

I have a new ostomy that is flat against my skin.  The nurse recommended a convex pouch because the others have resulted in leaks, I was wondering if anyone had success with a convex pouch, or any other suggestions for preventing leaks in a stoma that is flat against my skin.  Thanks!

What exactly is the ostomy belt for?  My nurse ordered one for me, and I've been wearing it, but I can't tell what the purpose of it is.  How is it helpful?

Mine wasn't flat but close and I had to use the convexs and the extra ring of puddy.  Try it...also you might have luck using the belts they have to keep it in place.  I went thru 3 different ones and the last one worked great.

Good luck
