I was diagnosed with Crohn's and UC about 2 years ago. For most of my life I had experienced different stomach issues. I went to different doctors who either diagnosed me with IBS or would say they couldn't find anything severely wrong. Thank God that I finally have a name for what I have been going through for years. I take Lialda for my condition and it does help a great deal. However, I do have unexpected flare ups as most of us know how that can occur. Before I was diagnosed, I experienced bloody stools and an occassional bloody toilet bowl. And of course sometimes this can be expected in UC and Crohn's but after having had another colonoscopy and a flex sig., the doctor said I was bleeding due to hemorrhoids. He has suggested surgery. I speak with a surgeon on this Friday. Has anyone ever had to have a hemorrhoidectomy and what was your experience? I am a bit nervous but also ready to get this all behind me because of the pain and loss of blood I have experienced. My blood level dropped to 8.5 which made me an anemic. Please give me any personal experience related to this. Thank you.

I had a hemorrhoidectomy over a year ago. The surgeon removed 4 hemorrhoids. The pain after surgery was very, very bad. However, your situation may be different. I have since developed a stricture in my rectum. But the hemorrhoidectomy was definitely necessary.
