I have had crohn's since I was 9 or 10 so for 16 years and have been on every med there is. It sounds when I went to get a 2nd opinion I have no more opition than for them to remove my colon. Does anyone have any great pros or cons to having the surgery. Thanks for your input.

Good luck on Wednesday!!!!!! I will keep you in my prayers. My appt. is on May 26th with the surgeon. If I have the surgery which I might have too looking at my options right now it will be a pernament ileostomy too many complications with the J Pouch. Right now looking at my colonoscopy reports my whole colon is infected really bad but I have had small bowel resectioning. So I do have crohn's in my small bowel. Whaterver the descion I will be happy with. Good luck. I hope your feeling better real soon.

I go in on Wednesday, May 20th for surgery. I will also be having my entire colon removed ( ileostomy ). I am very nervous, but have talked to people that have had the same surgery and all reports have been positive. I wish I could help more. I will try to update after the surgery, when I am feeling up to it. Is the ileostomy bag going to be pernament? Or are you planning on having a J Pouch? Has the disease spread outside your colon? I have recently been taking a Probiotic and it seems to be helping.... I also take liquid vitamin B everyday. This does not help with the disease, but seems to help maintain a chemical balance when it comes to dealing with Crohn's. Good Luck!
