Hello
I had 4 resections with cecum and terminal ileum removed, on June 11. It has now been 6 weeks since surgery. I am still weak, lost alot of strength and weight. I am usually 200lbs and after surgery went down to 153lbs! am now 171lbs. My surgeon said I could not even swing my clubs unti 8 weels after surgery. I have pain in my lower abdomen, like a bruising type of pain and even with light exercise such as walking and very light (5lb) weights, am still weak. I am very much a golfer but am afraid it will take long time before i can play golf like before operation. Have any of you had similar experiences and what have you done to regain strength?
Thanks
rob

I just recently had Ileocolic resection with 6-8 inches of bowel plus a small part of my colon removed that was apparently causing problems luckily it was performed Laposcopically . I also and am golfing and am anxious to get back out but it is has only been 3 weeks this past Thursday since I got out of the hospital have been chipping and putting lately but that will drain your strength especially in this South Carolina weather...give it time. When I had my Gall Bladder removed last year my surgeon told me it would be 6 weeks before I was swinging from the tee-box..
Good Luck let me know how you are doing

It is very hard to tell when youre able to go back to any type of sports. but if u r still feeling tired and weak and feeling any bit of pain, u r most definitely not ready to exercise. I love exercising and b4 i had my iliocolic resection, back in October/ November, i felt in shape. but after it, i couldnt go back till the end of the year bc it took me a few months to regain the strength neccesarry for excercising. Dont push urself even though u miss what u love! ask ur doctor as well what he/ she thinks about ur pain and excercising. ur surgen will know best. good luck with everything and i hope u continue to heal and r able to continue golfing like u love. I hope this was helpful!
All the best,
