About 2 weeks ago (july 20th), I had a total colectomy. While in the hospital everything was going good, I had surgery on monday and was released early friday morning. Since I have been home, things have been a little rough but nothing that I cant handle. But one thing I noticed is that where I have the ileostomy bag, my stomach kind of bulges out, I wasnt sure if this is normal, has anyone else experienced this? And also, when you get the staples taken off, does it make much of a difference? It seems to me that the staples are holding me back from standing up straight. Well if anyone can answer this for me that would be great. Thanks

getting the staples removed made a huge difference pain wise. It has been a month since I had my surgery one month ago and still find myself having trouble standing up straight I thought it was just me. I am glad to see that is not the case.

I had mine removed last September and I had a hard time standing up as well. My just would not want to straighten out and it seemed like the rest of my body would hunch over trying to protect the wound. Try and stand up straight as I developed bad back pains. I am now feeling great.
