TAKE DOWN SCHEDULED FOR SEP 15

Fri, August 28, 2009 5:57 PM

I was supposed to be scheduled for the 1st, but just went to see my surgeon today and he said he was booked until the 15th.

Now I have to buy more supplies and cancel my vacation my mother had pay for almost a year ago..

ARGHH...I am feeling blah today...

Good luck, Cakies.  I hope everything went perfectly yesterday. Once you're feeling up to it please post again and let us know how things went.  I may be going down that road myself (currently on Remicade, which worked for awhile but having a few issues now), so I'm really curious to read about the different experiences with the surgery.

I think my mind may already be ready to do it though; even when the meds are working I feel like I'm living day to day, not knowing what the next one (or BM!) will bring.

Again, best of luck, and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thank you both for you support.  I am definitely looking at the bright side of this situation.  There are to many who have permanent ones and don't have the option to be "Put back together".

I will meet with the hospital on Monday and be in surgery on Tuesday.  Please tell me how your surgery went, I am assuming you are recovering right now.

Also, did you have any problems going afterward to the bathroom the normal way again?

What type of surgery did they perform?

Thanks

Rachel

Hi my name is Stacey. I'm having the takedown surgery on Sept. 4th and I can't wait so I can get out and do things again. I been dealing with this for 6 months now. For some reason my ileiostomy works too much and I have to take lots of pills to slow it down. I would rather go on vaction when I was in one piece again then dealing with it on vacation. When I'm healed I know I'm going to take vacation. This will be my 3rd surgery this year. Do to camplications I almost didn't make the last surgery. Docs thought I wouldn't make it. So be happy you are still here and there is always another day ahead to go on vacation.

cheer up cakies, sorry your missing your vacation, but a takedown means you must be getting better!  I had a takedown in 2002 after 2 1/2 years with a colostomy.  It was great, surgery went well. It was a little weird going to the bathroom the "old fashioned" way again, but I have been doing great with out it.  I hope your surgery goes well, keep us posted and keep smiling!!!  Things really could be so much worse.
