I had surgery on September 3rd, 2009. They removed about a 12 inch section of my lower small intestine and upper colon. The pathology showed I had a 2.2 cm stricture (in circumference). I'm finally starting to feel better from my surgery and I've had these weird pains that remind way way way to much of my Crohn's pain. It's just an uncomfortable pain in my lower abdomen and it has happened 3 times in the past week and a half. Truthfully, I'm scared. I've been having problems for years and now I've finally been told I'm in remission... well I had to go through major surgery to get here and I'm not ready to admit it might already be over before I'm 100% healed from my surgery,
Is there anyway that this pain could just be from me using my ab muscles more and more everyday and not Crohn's. I've already called my doctor to let them know my worries. I'm just so so so scared! Please help!
Reply posted for sarah11.Hi Sarah, I had surgery on 7/8/09 I had 12 inches out, I had my ileum removed and part of my colon at the lower end. I started feeling weird myself the end of August and I had Crohn's symptoms again. The Dr kept saying it wasnt the Crohn's but unfortunately it got worse and I could barely walk from pain....I had a sigmoidoscopy done and sure enough it came back in my lower colon and now I have perianal Crohn's its the worst pain I ever experienced. I am not trying to scare you but I am looking desperately for adice because I am so discouraged. Did your Dr. put you on preventative meds immediately after your surgery? I was never put on anything until Sept. I feel as though that could be why this returned?

Well as it turns out something really was/is wrong. I have a blood clot in my superior mesenteric vein. Apparently its about 2 inches long and it causes a lot of pain...
They did a CT Scan and found it and now I'm on blood thinners. Thanks and I'll be okay now.

It sounds like it could be blockage cause from the surgery. You just had 12 inches of your system removed. That means that the other two ends had to be moved to get them to join together. They may have been twisted or kinked in the process. It take time for them to settle in the right place. To help reduce this problem chew your food really good and it go down better. Also your muscles are still sore from the surgery. I hope you feel better.

If you had major surgery on Sept 3, what you are feeling could very well be left over pain from the surgery. When you say "major surgery" I am assuming it wasn't laproscopy and it was full-fledged abdominal surgery. That takes a looong to heal, and you aren't even 6 weeks out.
I agree you should talk to your doctor and discuss you concerns, but I would be too worried at this point.
