Hi,
I am new to this board, and thanks in advance for your patience and advice!
My 11-year-old daughter had a 3-step ileoanal pullthrough in 2004. She has complained of intermittent, low-level abdominal pain and gas ever since. She has lots of energy, 4 bowel movements/day, and her blood work is normal. Her gastroenterologist says that what she's described are "persistent consequences of ileoanal pullthrough".
We would like to know if others have had this type of pain and if so, what might be causing it. Is it just part of life after surgery? Are there are things that can be done to minimize it?
Again, thanks for your help!
Nina

Thank you Swani! I hope you are feeling better now. Nicole is not vomiting but she reports low-level gas and tummy pain on a regular basis. She doesn't want to visit the gastroenterologist but I think we might have to (again...)
Take one step at a time. Things will get better but that might take a little while.

I just had a ressection about 8 months ago and had the very same symptoms for about 3 weeks.
When i saw my doctor he said the exact same.."its just healing, give it time" boy he was wrong my intestine had a blockage from the scaring where they made the cut which caused the intestine to twist and kink...i went to the hosp. to find this out...if youre child starts to vomit go to the hosp. thats why i went because i couldnt stop vomiting.....
I hope this helps
