cramping after eating after iliostomy take down

Mon, November 02, 2009 9:20 PM

I had my take down surgery one week ago and was wondering if anyone else had cramping in the beginning? Is this just part of getting used to the new plumbing or is this not good? I am just curious cause I feel a lot of pressure in my bottom everytime I sit down it is very uncomfortable the cramping is pretty painful. Other then that I am doing well any advise from anyone would be appreciated!!
Thanks,
Samantha

Thank you for sharing this, it will help me encourage my son when he has his iliostomy take down in about 7 weeks.

I don't recall experiencing cramping after my ileostomy takedown.  However, I do recall discomfort every time I sat down.  This lasted a few weeks.

I suggest asking your doctor/surgeon about the cramping.

Your takedown is new and your bowels may take time to begin functioning normally again.  Give it time.  :)

Sincerely,

Angie
