Strictureplasty surgeon - laparascopic or colorectal?

Tue, February 09, 2010 5:51 PM

After 11 years of managing Crohn's Disease, I landed in the hospital on New Year's Eve with a bowel obstruction.  My gastro advised surgery, because I was diagnosed with breast cancer last May, so he's reticent to try Remicaide, Humira, Imuran, etc (so am I).  I saw a highly regarded laparascopic surgeon - we looked at the CT scan together, she advised 3 strictureplasties, no NG tube, possibly only 48 hours in the hospital.  Yesterday I saw the colorectal surgeon that my gastro recommended - he was over an hour late, hadn't looked at my CT scan, said to come back in three weeks.

Any thoughts on using a laparascopic vs. colorectal surgeon?  Obviously, I want the best outcome....
