I'm 6-months post ileostomy. All of a sudden, every night for the past three weeks almost, I've had at least one blow out at night. This didn't happen before. Only difference is I've gained my weight back from being emaciated (normal weight now) and I've started eating more fiber. Could this be what I've heard referred to as pancaking? The output is much thicker and it just stays around the stoma/barrier and eats through my barrier and glue stick thing (Coloplast two-piece). I'm starting to dread the nights! Anyone have this problem?

Hugs!
The shape of your abdomen has changed with the weight gain. If you have an ostomy nurse, call her and tell her about what is happening. If you do not have a WOCN, call Coloplast or Hollister and talk with them. You may have to go to a convex system. The people at both companies really helped me get thru alot with Stella d'Stoma. She has left me but she taught me alot. Hang in there, there is a solution!

Hello,
This was happening to my daughter as well. I switched her to a two piece from Hollister so in the middle of the night I usually just open it up to let some of the gas out. (Burp it basically). She's only 3 years old though so I'm sure it's a little different from your situation.
I also wanted to tell you about two other websites for ostomies. I found these websites very useful when I have questions regarding my daughter's osotmy.
