SurgeryI was diagnosed with Crohns fall of 2004. I spent three years on Remicade, my symptoms were under control and I became complacent, not dealing with the disease at all. March of 2008 brought Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Stage I, treated with 19 radiation treatments. No more Remicade. The rest of the year saw several hospital stays with an abscess, blood clots and flaring Crohns/Colitis. June of 2009 brought surgery with partial removal of the colon and rectum. Now Im flaring again... my colon looks like "hamburger." My small intestine looks fine. Im now looking at the dreaded removal of the rectum and colon and the addition of the ileostomy. Drugs are not an option because of the Lymphoma history. I am an educated patient. Ive been to two major IBD Centers. I spent months on the SCD diet prior to this flare, Ive done acupuncture and supplements, and I had even started LDN before having to go on Prednisone (60 mg a day!) for this flare. So, my surgery is 11 days away. I can tell myself its the only logical thing to do, but then I read about the horror stories of the ileostomy and start doubting myself. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone with a similar history as none of my friends or family can relate to my situation. Thanks. Wendy... wsgorski@wi.rr.com

I sent you an email- but there is an excellent book called Great Comebacks from ostomy surgery by Rolf Benirschke-someone recommended it to us before my son's surgery and it was great.
