Surgary was a blessing!

Hi all!

I just want to give some encouragemt for those of you that may be going through a resection. For me it has been the best thing! I had 1/3 of my colon removed ( the entire transverse section). I had a great Surgeon at MGH -so had no problems at all. I have been symptom free for 2 years...

Prior to surgery my Crohns had  gone from "mild"  to a "10" ( as my doc put it anyways!) I had a stricture which resulted in an abscess. Had to have a drain installed --which actually was a worse experience than the resection! Go figure!??

I am not on any medications since the resection. As scary as the the idea of surgery was, I am thankful It did what it was supposed to -give me a normal life!

I had about the same amount of colon and the same approximate area removed (transverse to secum, I think) a few months ago. I was in remission for about ten years and suddenly my symptoms came back full swing. I was wondering how I'd do without taking anything. I honestly feel more energetic without Purinethol in my system. So I'm glad to hear what happened down the road for you! Continue to feel well. I'm hoping for similar success.
