I just had surgery on April 3rd. I started my regular cycle on April 12. On April 18th, I started my monthly birth control pack. On April 25, I began bleeding. Scared me to death because I had had surgery on my bladder, because of a fistula from my small intestine. It only lasted a little while, then the next night, more blood. I have never had any type of spotting in the 17 years I have been taking the Pill. I called my OB/GYN, and she said that any tramatic surgery to the body can mess up your menstral cycle, and it could take a while to re-adjust. Has anyone else experienced this? I am so scared to end up in the hospital again, that any little problem gives me a total nervous breakdown!

I too experienced a heavy flow after colon resectional surgery. I was also given shots of heperin every 6 hrs for the 8 days I was on IV. Mother Nature in action. If you do not go back into a normal routine, consult your doc again.

Yes, I had a lot of bleeding after a surgery---a period that wouldn't stop. I think you should relax. You'll probably be fine.
