Has anyone had Seton Surgery to repair Fistulas

Sat, May 15, 2010 10:27 PM

Has anyone had surgery to repair anal fistulas?  About a year ago I had surgery to remove inflammed tissue from inside my rectum and had multiple fistulas repaired in this one surgery session.  I was in so much pain that I fear having this second surgery to repair my new anal fistulas but this time the surgeon is going to use seton replacement to repair my fistulas.  Is it painful and will it stop the leakage and if so for how long because I do not want to go through this summer taking mulitiple baths to keep these fistulas from getting infected.  Please I need someone advice who knows what I am going through because I haven't met anyone with this problem yet, and it is becoming frustrating for me.

I had my first seton surgery last October and a repeat surgery this past February just to clean them out some more.  Im still having constant drainage and they hurt still some days more than others. I'm afraid they will have to do surgery again- I'm just so ready to have the setons removed though.  It is better than before just ready to them to be gone for the summer.
