Ostomy

Mon, July 05, 2010 12:31 AM

I have Crohns and had most of my intestines removed and do not have a colostomy. My friend just had ulcerative colitis and they removed his colon, he does have a colostomy and is complaining of a jelly passing from the rectum, its been 4 weeks since surgery, can someone explain this, l have no clue. They did leave about an inch of colon hoping to reattach later, it was also diseased but they are hoping to save it for reattachment.

the remaining colon will continue to produce mucus so if he has some of his colon-rectum left he can still have the sensation of having to have a BM and will pass mucus- this is normal
