Will someone please tell me what a surgical adhesion is? If it doesn't cause a bowel obstruction, does it need treatment?
adheasions are scartissue that your body forms to hold everything in place after surgeory. remember that feeling you had the first few days after surgeory like everything was free to slide around all over the place? well it was, in order to get to the aera they need to work on the surgeon must cut away the natural connective tissue that holds everything in place. your boby then has to tie everything down again. the adheasions are like roaps securing the load on a truck the only trouble is they are scar tissue and as such they shrink over time, they never stop shrinking. most people have some discomfort with them some like me, have to have emergency surgeory to fix a bowel obstruction caused bt adheasions. It is important to do things that can help aliviate this problem streach, streach, streach, the more you streach the less trouble you are likely to have. the day after surgeory all you want to do is bend over into a ball but that allows the adheasions to form in shorter strands to start with so they dont have to shrink much before becoming a problem. later streaching will help prevent them from shrinking and causing problems. usualy you only need surgeory to reduce them if you get an obstruction or have severe pain with them or have mobility issues. however if you have adheasions then have surgeory to reduce them, your body makes more adheasions. and so on.
I hope this helps.
