thinking it over

so I have a scope coming up that will determine how my intestine looks but if my symptoms are any sign they will not be good, and I'm on the most advanced treatment we can really right now, and so I know if they find any areas that are too bad they will want surgery cause we have talked about it before, actually they did surgery once but the surgeon decided against it after he cut me open....anyways....I know this isn't gonna be an easy choice so I'm just looking for advice or stories. Ostomoies? resections? I don't mind the recovery part of surgery I just want to live a more normal life cause when im healthy i love my active life so much and I really miss it, I also hate having more in quantity in BMs than I eat!

Surgery is always a tough decision.  But if your case is anything like my sons who was diagnosed 9 months ago with ulcerative colitis, surgery became his best option.  Like you, he did not respond to the most up to date medical treatments.  He was hospitalized 4 times in those 9 months.  3 weeks ago, he had his first j-pouch surgery and will soon have the second one on aug. 11.  He is now cured of his disease and over time his body will adjust to the new normal.  He is only 15 years old and knows he will be able to put all this behind him and have a very good life.  Talk to your doctor about your quality of life because in the end that is what matters.  Best of luck
