post surgery pain - ilieocecal resection

Wed, September 01, 2010 6:33 AM

just had another 6 inches of intestine/scar tissue removed to correct from surgery 25 years ago. this time was laparoscopic but i am having tremendous pain by the incision by my navel. does anyone know how long this will last? pain meds make ts tolerable but the way "they" sell laparscopy i'm surprised at the level of pain. don't think it's infected. no fevers, only redness at site. also this time had epidural but was not told to be still for 48 hrs after removal. developed epidural headache requiring emergency room visit and treatment with massive dose of caffeine.

Redness at the site means a local infection-call your surgeon! Do it soon before it starts weeping pus.

There is also a chance that there could be some foreign matter lodged in the incision wound. Call the surgeon at any rate. Set something up with a visiting nurse so they can give you proper wound care too.
