So they just found a abscess located down low by my/on my Jpouch. I have been having severe pain in my lower back and hips along with cramping and increased bowel movements. Has anyone had a Abscess attached to their Jpouch? and what course of action did your GI do in getting rid of the Abscess? They immediately put me on 10 days of Levaquin and are still pondering on a course of action to resolve the problem. They are talking about possibly using a needle to approach and try and drain it, but they are concerned and it may need to be surgerically removed. ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!!
Thanks in advance!
Jared

I have also had an abcess on the outside of my j pouch. It was leaking and accumulated under the skin. It manifested fight beside my rectum and was very painful. It started out small and got much bigger. I had to call my surgeon. I spoke to his nurse who told me to see my GI. He was on vacation. I felt like it was no big deal but I was really worried ansd in pain. I spoke to my GI's nurse who scheduled me with an associate. He immediately ordered an MRI. That took 2 and 1/2 hours. They wanted to find out what was causing the abcess. That is when they found the leak in the pouch. I had to have emergency surgery to have the abcess drained beause of the possibility of the abcess bursting which would result in pelvic sepsis. I have an open fistula now and an ilieostomy. I am not happy about it but I am here to write this to you. I hope your abcess has cleared with the antibiotic. Please write back and let me know how you are. I hope this resolves easily for you.
