Hi Everyone,
I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease this summer and recently have developed an abscess.
My GI doc has scheduled me to have a CT assisted drainage of the abscess next week.
Ive been trying to research the procedure on line to find out what to expenct, and am not having much luck.
Can anyone share their experiences with me?
What type of pain medication do they give during the procedure?
How uncomfortable is the drain, which im told will have to stay in for about 2 weeks?
What is the procedure for replacing/cleaning the drain? Do you need nurse assistance for this or will I be able to do it on my own with instruction?
They told me I could drive myself to the procedure, but it sounds like Ill be in a lot of pain to be driving afterwards... thoughts?
Any good links to share that talk about what to expect with this procedure? The ones I've been able to find were either quite vague or geared towards doctors and a bit over my head as a result.
Any other useful info to share?
Thanks in advance!
Elizabeth

Well, I had the procedure on Friday. It was successful and they were able to drain the abscess. Unfortunately, it looks like there is a hole in my intestine, so I will be admitted for surgery next week.
I wish this community was more active. Anyone have a recommendation for one that is? I could really use some advice here.
Thanks in advance!
