Resection last week

Last Thursday I had a colon(cecum) and small bowel resection. I came home Monday and seem to be recovering fairly well. Am just curious if anyone else has had this done and if they have any advise/suggestions to share.

I had an open ileocolonic resection with primary anastomosis of Feb 16 and got home 6 days later, been recovering great as I was up and walking 8 hrs after surgery. I am having a hard time sitting around as I was sitting around 2 weeks before the surgery due to having a fistula in my small intestine leaking. I feel so much better! I think the fistula was leaking inside my body which would cause all sorts of problems. The procedure went great and the incision is healing well! even if it is 7 inches long! How has your healing been going? My biggest fear is just sitting around and waiting to heal as I am very active, race mtn bikes and go to lifetime fitness often, mentaly, I have stayed positive and strong and I think this will help heal. Billy

My daughter had something similar done last week . . . an ileocecal resection. She's feeling much better as well; however, she had abscesses removed as well and they were making her fairly ill. May I ask what meds were you on before the surgery and are you going to be on any now that the surgery is done? Hope all ocntinues to go well for you!

I have Crohns, was diagnosed in Feb 2010 after many years of mis/no diagnosis. I had about 10cm of my small bowel, my cecum and appendix(lol). I have had almost zero problems since the surgery(dec 17). I am still on a soft diet and am supposed to return to work next week. I no longer have diarrhea...which scares me and relieves me at the same time!!!

I had a resection done on my large intestine 6 weeks ago, the bad part is I have 30 cm of infected colon still inside me. I am very happy for you, because my surgery is still not giving me any relief. I am still bleeding, still in pain, and still having issues. Do you have Chron's or Ulceritive ?
