Hi there, I'm a 43 year old woman who was diagnosed with UC in 1978 at the age of 12. I have had some very bad and some awesome years dealing with the UC. The past five years have been almost symptom free (no blood nor urgency) since I realized when I ovulated I flared and started taking birth control pills. This year I switched Dr's and this was the first dr to ever discuss with me taking samples every 10 cm during the colonsocopy. Needless to say, he then told me I have flat dysplasia and need J-pouch surgery. I freaked out. This week I drove from here in "po-dunk" to a major city hospital and met with another dr. He stated he did not trust the report from "po-dunk" b/c they wrote I had "mild" dysplasia and it should have been either low-grade or high-grade. I just sent my photos and slides from the procedure off to their pathology department for a 2nd opinion. So here's my question, is there anyone out there who has had the J pouch surgery while feeling pretty healthy for flat dysplasia? I'm sure there is, I just haven't found anyone on the boards and would love to hear some other stories of what to ask, what to look for, etc. I look forward to hearing from you.

thanks. I'm growing frustrated. I got the run around from the hospital where I had the colonsoscopy (which really stinks b/c I am an employee too) and finally got the slides to overnight down to the big city doc. Now I can't seem to reach a human there (2 weeks of phone calls, wrong human, and voicemail hell) who can confirm they have truly arrived to the correct place and the dr is working on them. Thanks for your feedback, I know its a huge change and not something I am taking very lightly. My faith is keeping me from going nuts. I'm glad you found a good doc.
