Hi,
I was just wondering when all of you decided to go for surgery. I am considering to have my colon removed. I was diagnosed with left-sided ulcerative colitis in 2009 and my life has spiraled out of control since then. I have been hospitalized three times and just two times this past year. I seemed to be getting worse and worse each time.
I am currently on 12 Asacol pills a day. 75 mg of Azathioprine, Rowasa enema and Remicade every six weeks. With all of this medication I am still having a lot of symptoms. I never seem to go into remission, my symptoms may get better but never normal. I feel like I am under every medication for this disease and it's not working. Every time that I am hospitalized my symptoms and pain get worse, I have no energy and have lost hope.
I was wondering how all of you handle this difficult decision. And when you when through with the operation what are the outcomes? How is the recovery time and feelings? And did your life change for the better or worse? Thanks
