recovery/running after jpouch surgery?

Mon, January 02, 2012 4:07 PM

Hey everyone!
So after 3 years of every medication I think I am going to opt for jpouch surgery. I meet with my doctor this week to make the plans and go over everything but I have a few questions.

I love running. Actually fell in love with it after I was diagnosed to lose weight from prednsione. I have run 2 half marathons and was going to be training for a full this year.

My question is after surgery how long till you were up and about? I know moving as soon as I can is good just to keep me active. I really want not lose a lot of time off from training (no I will not push myself too hard just to be able to race again-I will not hurt myself more just for a trophey-even if they are so pretty haha)

I just kinda want a time line of things to expect. Where you walking on your own after a week? two weeks? three weeks? Please dont say three weeks! I need hope that I can do this.

Hopefully surgery will be in the next week or so. Any advice or comments are welcomed and so helpful! Also is there anything you wish you had in the hospital that would have made you more comfortable? I will be bring my own toilet paper. Learned that lesson on my own.

Thanks so much for reading! I hope everyone has a HEALTHY NEW YEAR!
