Waiting for Gas Post Surgery

Mon, April 08, 2013 9:39 PM

I thought I had come down with either a terrible stomach flu or food poisoning as I couldn't keep anything down for 4 awful days. After a trip to the ER for fluids and nausea meds followed up by more throwing up and dry heaving, I was finally admitted to the hospital. I had my 2nd bowel resection surgery on 4/1 in under 2 years. I was put on a nutritional IV pre-surgery to let my bowels rest and reduce the inflammation. I'm now still waiting on my bowls to get going. I have not passed gas yet so I'm just walking the hospital halls and waiting. How long has it taken for bowels to get going again post surgery? Last time, it took 5 days but my Crohn's was more under control before surgery.
