Anyone caring for a non-verbal individual with Crohn's?

My son, 28, has intellectual disabilities and autism and is non-verbal.  We can only guess when he is having a flare up by his behaviors -- aggression such as hitting others or the wall, having a really short fuse, running to the bathroom even if he doesn't do anything but sit.   I would love to connect with another caregiver who has a person with intellectual disabilities who also has Crohn's to brainstorm ways to help them express what's going on, what has worked or not, etc.   My son lives in a group home nearby and I work closely with his staff to monitor his medical issues and general care and well-being.   Changing his diet has helped after I consulted with a nutritionist (his GI doc didn't seem to think diet would matter - he was wrong.  I think because my son can't talk that some assume that nothing else about him is normal either so they don't recommend things they might for a typical person.)    So anyone out there dealing with anything like this -- sure would like to communicate with you!   Thanks - Michele, Adam's mom
