Feeling Helpless

Tue, March 24, 2015 10:27 AM

Hi. My 16 year old daughter has Ulcerative Colitis. We have just been through a bad flare up that required hospitilization.   She gets shots of Humira every two weeks. She has to take so many pills. She spends so much time in the bathroom. She is so thin. She is in pain most of the time. I would just like to know how, as parents, you get through the rough times without losing your mind because there isnt anything that we can do to take that pain away?  We cant give them an antiobiotic and its over.  I keep a brave face on around my daughter but I have a broken heart.  Any advice?

Oh Hun. First thing I'm sending you a massive hug from the uk x x All our journeys are different but I can 100% empathise with you as my 7 yr old daughter has been through the most horrific yr. It's the best but most heartbreaking hard job ever being a mum. I've cried and cried and through so much traumatic times through out the last 12 mths. My coping strategy has been the support of my wonderful mum and also my church who have supported us a lot and my faith that God will heal her ( this by no means has been easy). I really hope you have a good support system in place and that your beautiful daughter will be in remission very soon x x x
