My daughter was officially diagnosed with Crohn's in March of 2016 after a 50+ pound weight loss, severe stomach pains, uncountable BM per day eventually with blood, severely anemic, and vomiting after dairy consumption. Took a year of trying different medications, while battling insurance, to finally find a medication that worked which was Remicade. She started her Remicade infusions in February of this year and had quick an amazing results with her Crohn's symptoms. She did complain of severe back pain off and on and her Gastro doc just kept saying it would get better with time (not at all happy with her Gastro doc but that is another discussion). She got married on October 14th of this year and 2 days after started having severe joint pain and a few days after that had, what seemed to be a bout of psoiasis on her scalp and forehead that subsided after about a week. The joint pain has continually gotten worse with a finger swellig up like a sausage, then a trip to the ER because she couldn't handle the pain in her elbow. Pain meds in an IV and an oral anti inflammatory and sent home. Then a toe swelling like a sausage, then her knee swelling.
During all this a call to her Gastro, whick takes DAYS to get a response, refers her to a rheumatologist, without even seeing her. New patient appointments booked out for 3 months, she goes at the end of January 2018. I believe she is showing the beginning signs of Psoriatic Arthritis.....and I am physically sick to my stomach worrying about her. Has anyone else suffered with or been a caregiver to someone who as been diagnosed with both of these and have any advice they can impart??
