I am hoping that this is a judgement free space because I feel really bad about my feelings. I have been dating a Crohn's patient for 10 months and moved in with him 2 months ago. He told me from the beginning he had this chronic condition but now that I am living with him full-time I am starting to see what this really means. There are many times we can't go out because of severe diarreah. We went on vacation to Spain and spent several days in the hotel because he couldn't go out. The gas is severe and constant and it's embarrasing to him and me. He soils the bed often. He started on Stelara 6 weeks ago but we haven't seen improvement. He is a great man and I would like a life with him but I am afraid for the future. I don't want to sound callous and I feel terrible but I don't want to be someone's nurse. Any advice? Thoughts?

Does your boyfriend have a strategy for leaving the house, going to work, taking vacations? You might want to start taking opioids, a good gastroenterologist will know several. Opioids bind you up. Tincture of opium works well for me. Some western doctors freak out. My Chinese G I put me on it. Get some hospital mattress pads for the bed, get some Depends and panty liners, only wear black or dark blue pants. Always hit the restroom before leaving the house, and as soon as you arrive at your destination.
