Help with pain

Thu, March 12, 2009 3:03 PM

My daughter is 11 yrs old and we are in the very early stages of diagnosis. Her endo/colonoscopy was just last Thursday and we are awaiting biopsy results. The drs did say that it looked like crohns but had to wait on results for sure. However she is having really bad belly pain at night and tylenol wont work. I need something to try to help her with her pain. She has missed so  much school due to painful nights. Any suggestions?

Make sure you get the 504 accommodations from ehr school. Check out the Kids & Teens sections on this site. You may avert a nightmare, if you haven't already done this.

As for the pain, I was told aspirin was better for Crohn's. But there's all kinds of conflicting information out there.

Good luck to you, sincerely.

Hi Mamaslove71... I too have a daughter that has been diagonsed with Crohn's disease.. She was diagonsed in March 2007.. and since then we have had 3 hospital visits each time becoming longer and longer and her crohn's becoming worse and worse... For the pain we hade to alternate motrin and tylenol just to give her some comfort.. along with the heating pad. I have never tried the tea but that sounds like a good idea..

I hope this helps ...

My son was diagnosed last year at this time.  He is 15.  The pain can be releaved with a heating pad and hot tea.  That's about all we could do until we got the right help for him.  Also, she probably will miss a lot of school depending on how bad she is.  My son missed about 2-3 weeks, but his teacher were really supportive and it all worked out.  Good luck.  I know how hard this is.  I've been there.  Please let me know if I can help you in any other way.
