I have a currently 17 year old that was diagnosed originally with Crohn's when she was 15. We have since run the gammot of Docs and meds and treatments, etc. She had a total colectomy in August after first coming as close to a re-diagnosis to UC as possible. Unfortunately, she had numerous complications after surgery some of them life threatening and we wound up in the hospital for a month. She returned 2 weeks after that via 911 call for another 5 days.
I have been seeking some understanding and compassion somewhere for the trauma and horrors that we both suffered during this time more from the complications then from the actual surgery/recovery. She is doing very well now after the takedown surgery in December and its the typical, "now that she's better, I'm a wreck". It's so hard to find ANYONE in my life who gets this at all. Anyone?

Hi, I have a 15 year diagnosed in sep. 09. he is currently on remicade after we tried all other medications. This too is not working as well as expected. He is not in remission. His Gi doctor has mentioned surgery. Something we are trying to avoid. I can relate to all your conerns and worry. Just hang in there.
