Anyone had these symptoms taking a biologic, particularly the tingling feeling?
I am really freaked out right now because I am concerned that this may be a sign of a lasting problem, like MS or neuropathy, which I heard may be rare side effects from humira (and other biologics). These symptoms may go away, or be permanent. The MS possibility is freaking me out in particular.
My son is 13 years old and has been taking humira for CD for 2 months. After the 3rd shot, he had flu-like symptoms for a day. This happens now nearly every time he has the shot. After a month, he started getting eczema, and then hives. He was given an antihistamine to deal with this side effect. That worked pretty well on the rash.
The most worrisome side effect, though, just started last week. He has tingling (pins and needles) in his upper arms, the sides of his torso, and his thighs, which comes and goes. It is the weekend, his GI doctor was on vacation last week, and I am pretty freaked out. The doctor covering said to stop giving him humira, until we can talk to his regular doctor. Hopefully that will be tomorrow. I know these symptoms can indicated MS or neuropathy.
If he has to stop humira (which at this point, I can't see agreeing to continue, even if the doctor thinks it ok), I don't know what we are going to do. My son has already tried every other class of medicine.
My son has Crohn's and is currently in jail. T....
