stop smoking if you smoke and have crohn's disease!

Last monday, my boyfriend had a colonoscopy/egd. He was first diagnosed w/ crohns in 2008. He tried Remicade and it helped his symptoms but he had terrible side-effects, like he couldn't walk. The docs told him he was having an allergic reaction to the med. So, then he tried Humira. It also helped with the crohn's symptoms, but he would have migraine headaches, and be bed-ridden for about 3 days, then he would have a few good days. He HAD to take the Humira every 2 weeks, or else!!!  Well, after a couple months, he developed a full body psoriasis which lasted almost a year. He did take LDN (low-dose naltrexone) right after coming off the Humira (which he was told to immediately stop), and we feel like the LDN helped his psoriasis to begin to heal as well as his crohns to go into remission. So, he wasn't taking ANYTHING for a couple of years and the stress of life and other things began to cause him to have flare ups. He tried the prednisone and it would keep him at bay a little. Well, just about a week ago, he went for an EGD/Colonoscopy to see how things were in there, and his new GI doc told him the worst thing he could do for his crohn's is to smoke cigarettes. He's been a smoker for years, but after monday, he hasn't lit up not even once...He hasn't had a single problem with his gut in a week!!!  He doesn't take ANYTHING right now except baking soda and warm water. He has a prescription for protonix and pentasa, but hasn't even started that yet. This isn't a miraculous cure or anything, just simple logic; apparently cigarette smoking causes inflammation and inflammation causes symptoms. I pray for restoration and healing for all the loved ones who are affected by this cruel horrible disease! I know we will find a cure someday :)
