Does anybody know of a good forum in which to have my 11-year old daughter participate? She has colitis and has been dealing with it for two years. One of the most difficult issues is the inability for her friends to understand what she is going through. We live in a very rural area and there are no support groups less than an hour away. I am hoping to find an on-line group for her. Thoughts?

Please look into the Power of Two program. She will get matched with a mentor that is similar to her and has the same type of disease course as she does. Also, are there any local support groups where you live? I would suggest her going. You could always call and ask if there are any teens that attend, usually there are. And lastly GI Monitor is an app that you can download on any mobile device, and also access through web, that has a social platform dedicated to people wiht IBD. I am an active member of the site and we have quite a few young ones with us. Really great people and really great advice, support, and understanding from people that REALLY understand. Also, has she ever been to camp oasis? Would be a good option as she would not only have a great time but meet people that are nearby.

I don't know of an on-line forum, but I do highly recommend Camp Oasis.
My daughter was very young when she was diagnosed and has gone to Camp Oasis for the last four years, she's already signed up for this summer too. She has met lots of kids who have either CD or UC and she knows she's not alone in this.
You can type Camp Oasis in the "search box" above. There is even video on You tube too. It is a fantastic opportunity.
Good luck!
