Hi my daughter is 16 years old with UC she has been diagnosed for a little over two years. Her doctor is now wanting to start her on remicade and I'm a little nervous about it, I also have questions about the injections would that be a better treatment. Don't know what to do right now, scarred I might make the wrong decision. Please I need some feedback. My daughter hates to take medication and we were on 6mp and it was making her sick so she stopped taking it on her on. She is a very private person and its hard to even get her to talk about. Would love some advice, feedback or just an ear. Thank you

No two people react the same to medications.
6mp is a much more aggressive immune suppressant than Remicade. Remicade targets only the tumor necrosis factor.
Remicade has worked well for me for the past five years, with no major side effects.
I think it's worth a try--see how it works in your case. You can always stop it if you're dissatisfied with the results or the side effects.
But it definitely warrants consideration.
You might also consider getting a second opinion on treatment from a top medical authority. You can find one in your area by going to this Web site:

God bless, and best of luck!

We LOVE Remicade! My son has been on for a little over a year and it is has produced a durable remission. We hope he can stay on it a long time. He is 15 and has CD, was dx 2 years ago.
He is needle phobic but can handle the infusion process well. We make it into an event, coffeecake from Starbucks after everything is in place, lunch afterwards. He plays xbox during the infusion, some kids watch movies. Remicade is a biologic (designer protein) so it doesn't have drug-like side effects (no bad taste in the mouth or flu-like symptoms).
good luck!
My son has Crohn's and is currently in jail. T....
