Hi, I just wanted to put in another good word for Biotin. I had severe hair loss and this exact page is where I found my solution... so thank you!! The supplements are really cheap and I take 1000mcg per day. Its made a huge difference and my close friends and family are definitely taking notice. Woohoo!

I found Biotin at Walmart...very inexpensive. I found out, though, that my hair shedding has been due to iron deficiency. My blood tests came back with very low iron levels, so my doctor gave me a high strength prescription of Vitron-C. After taking it for about 2 weeks, I'm noticing a huge improvement.

Where do you purchase this Boitin?

I take biotin forte (I think its 5 mg), zine and iron (at my dermatologist's suggestion).

For those of you taking Biotin, how much do you take daily? I'm thinking about trying this.

I've had Crohn's for almost 6 years and had VERY bad hair loss throughout my worst flare and the loss of 40 pounds. When I went on Remicade for a year, my hair gradually began to grow back. I had gone to see a dermitologist who did a biopsy on my scalp and determined I had Telogen Effluvium, which is basically saying your body is in complete shock and stops the production of hair. It goes into a "resting" state and pushes all the hair out of your head while it rests in order to grow new hair. If you have it, there is hope that it grows back! It does take awhile, and believe me, I went through a severe depression from it... having lost alot of beautiful curls, but it DOES grow back. I honestly think the remicade has a better chance of helping the hair, as it is supposed to be helping your body regain nourishment.

I lost a lot of my hair when I was on 6-MP coming off of prednisone. I've been taking biotin vitamins and they have helped tremendously!
