Humira and Decreased Sex Drive

Has anyone ever had their sex drive decrease will being on Humira?

The medicine is working wonders, but I have very little desire to have sex....and that is just wrong. I have a wonderful boyfriend of four years, we have no kids, and are about 30 years old. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking about scheduling an appointment with my OBGYN. I love my boyfriend and sex, and am hoping that there is a way to figure out what the problem is. I figured I would start here. I think I may exercise more, try to manage my stress levels, and then make an appointment with my doctor.

A little background:

I have been on Humira for 6 months now. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease a year and a half ago. I still have dietary issues, but most of the kinks are worked out. I also just graduated with my masters degree, am looking for another job - deadline is August because I have to quit my current job to student teach. So my stress level is a little elevated lately with money, health, and education concerns. (Maybe that is a contributing factor?)

I would do both.. Make an appt. with your gyno. and exercise to try to rid yourself of some add'l stress, maybe pick up a yoga class too. You would be surprised how big of a factor stress can put on ones body/mind/spirit. Hopefully this is just a little bump in the road. Good luck.

Hey honey! I am so sorry that nobody has seemed to address this issue with you yet, which makes me a little surprised. Where my doctor started me on Humira (I did my first dose of 4 shots), on a friday, went in for a colonoscopy on Monday, and the following monday, he tells me to stop taking it cause according to his scope, I am in "remission". Well, that is crappy to say the least, because I feel horrible most of the time.

I havent had much experience with CD, at least not with knowing what was wrong. But I can say that you need to make an appt. with your GYN and let him/her know that your sex drive has been effected and ask for some testosterone cream. It sounds horrible, but you only have to put in on your arm once a week, (very low dose of testosterone) and you should be able, IBD willing to get right back into the swing of things..

I have been married for 5 years and had an issue with one of my antidepressants causing the same issue for me, and this completly helped me out through that phase of my marriage. I hope that this helps and has reached you in time.
