hello every body, i am thankful i found this site. CD is one of the rare disease in our country.  i was diagnosed with CD, three years ago, my doctor told me that CD needs a longer treatment. after two years in treatment my doctor told me that i can stop taking medicine and have my check up as needed. now i can feel the relapse episodes of CD and my doctor is out of the country. i am thinking if i will medicate my self with the same medicine which he gave me before?

Your doctor is a moron. CD and UC can be looked at like a sine wave. It goes up and down. On the peaks you have a flare up. Some waves are 2 months apart, some 10 years. There is no cure, no prevention. Find a general practitioner, not a specialist to manage your quality of life. Specialists only treat when you have a flare up. They scope you and give strong meds. I found a physician who suffers from UC like me. I have what I call an emergency kit with budesonide 3mg and lomotil. I take a lomotil if I have minoor diarhea. I take 1 budesonide /day unitl symptoms are gone if I get a flare up. I also take candidase ( walmart.com) and this makes my guts feel not bloated.

Some of the medications are mild.  Others including steroids and immune modifiers are quite serious.  You should not self medicate but get another professional immediately.
